I live!!

January 19, 2004 8:37 am

Having not posted in over a month, I thought I might come back to this after all. Christmas was wonderful, Return of the King was awesome, and I’ve been back at school for two weeks now. Getting back was a story or three in itself – first my flight out of Fort Walton was cancelled and rebooked for one that arrived in Greenville at midnight. Then I had a short layover in Memphis…I made it to the plane, but my suitcases did not. I had to wait another 24 hours for the stupid airline to get its act together and get them to me. I am not a fan of Northwest Airlines right now.

One thing that was amusing – I was talking to a Northwest agent about my suitcases before I left the airport that night, and he was commenting on the airport code for FWB. “I’ve never understood how they get VPS from Fort Walton Beach,” he said. I explained that the VPS comes from Valpraiso, which is closer to the airport than Fort Walton is. Ahh, the satisfaction of solving a lifelong mystery…

I think this term is going to go all right. If nothing else, it will go quickly – our short winter term is less than two months. It’s billed as being 8 weeks, but if you actually closer to seven, and that’s counting exams. We only take two classes, but they’re longer than usual, and it’s pretty intense. I have a math class (finite mathematics) which is proving to be incredibly easy. We had a test last Friday. I’m not worried. My other is an English course in satire, which is pretty interesting. We started with a couple of plays from ancient Greece by Aristophanes, did a little Roman stuff, and quickly jumped to Restoration England. We’re spending lots of time on Jonathan Swift just now, which I have mixed feelings about…he’s not so fun to read.

I’ve also gotten involved in Pauper Players again, which is a completely student-run drama group. This year the show is Fiddler on the Roof. I don’t have a big part, just one of the random villagers (basically, I got cast as a Jewish mother), but I’m excited.

To make sure we have no sad pandas or sad pugs running around, please note the new address of this site (www.ladyvulcan.com) and pat J.C. on the back for setting this up for me.

Sillies. I know who the sad panda is! J.C. was the sad pug. Only he isn’t. Sad, that is. Which is good!

Oh, well. I am a Pug, yes I’m only a Pug, and I’m sitting here, nosin’ up slugs.

And Katie’s some sort of Mexican Jew Lizard* mother. Coolness, huh? 🙂 Hurray for Katie!

Why would either of you want to be a big furry ominvorous anyways?
And that is a very strange comic strip.

Strange is a good word for it, yeah…

yay for finite math!!

I decided to take that this semester as well….I’ll say this. I could probably sleep through the class and still get an A.
