Life is busy…

November 18, 2003 11:52 pm

…but Thanksgiving break is soooo close! I can almost touch it! And there’s so much to do between now and then. *sigh*

(Next week at this time, next week at this time…it’s become my mantra recently. It serves me well.)

Last night I has to watch a movie for my German class. It was based on a true story about the Comedian Harmonists, a world-famous singing group (a male quintet and a pianist) from the late 1920’s into the 1930’s, when the Nazis decided that they should break up because three of the six were Jewish. It was good!

It reminded me a little of Life is Beautiful, which I saw a week or two ago – it is incredibly sweet and very good! It’s in Italian, which is a beautiful language to listen to. Yay for subtitles!

The beginning of The Comedian Harmonists was a little bit eerie – in trying to get the group going, they were facing problems that were VERY similar to ones faced by the a capella ensemble I’m in (10 After 12). Would that we could overcome our difficulties so successfully!

Tonight, lots of water is falling from the sky. Unfortunately, when I left the dorm at four this afternoon for oratorio rehearsal, it looked like the weather was clearing up, so I left my umbrella behind. It was still clear after rehearsal at six, but by the time I got off work at ten, there was a steady rain coming down. Fortunately, despite the old rhyme, I’m made of a little more besides “sugar and spice and everything nice,” so getting soaked was nothing a warm shower couldn’t fix.
